january

I have nothing very exciting to blog about. This past month has been pretty routine and boring as we've been getting back in the swing of things after an awesome Christmas break at home.

Steve started his second semester of law school. It is looking like it will be busier than the first semester but hopefully not as challenging. He just barely got his grades back from first semester and did very well! Seeing those grades reaffirmed that we are supposed to be out here and that this will all be worth it. Hopefully his good grades will help him to get an internship during his summer break. He has applied at law firms in Salt Lake and DC so we are a little bit up in the air right now as to where we will be spending our summer. We will be grateful to get anything and realize we can't be too picky. He is working so hard for our family right now. He wakes up every morning before 6 am to catch a bus and spends all day studying hard in between his classes. He comes home after 6 or 7 each night and helps me do all the things I didn't get done during the day and plays hard with James who, by the way, is absolutely infatuated with his daddy.

some Instagram pictures from January. All are of James. Sorry for the baby overload but I pretty much only take pictures of him these days.

I am loving staying home with James but we realized that it doesn't help pay the bills so I am also working two part-time jobs if you can even call them that. I watch a cute little boy (15 months old) in our ward four days a week while his mom teaches piano lessons. He comes over to our apartment and James loves to play with him so some days it is more of a break for me to have him here because he keeps James occupied and entertained. I just make sure they don't break anything or hurt each other and everything runs smoothly.

And then twice a week James and I go to our friends' apartment and watch their twin girls, who are almost two years old, while their mom works. They are a little bit more of a handful and keep me busy but it's nice to come home at the end of the day feeling exhausted and like I am contributing to our family. I usually work about 12 to 14 hours each week with the little boy and then another 12 or so with the twins.

When I'm not watching the kids I hang out with James a lot. He is my little friend and he can be so hilarious. I am constantly entertained by him. But sometimes he naps so while he naps I do a lot of laundry, dishes, cooking, crafting, reading etc. I am still trying to decorate our place. We've been here 5 months but I am still moving in and trying to make it feel like home. I have a bunch of projects waiting to be started and I am hoping to become better friends with my sewing machine in the next few months.

James is a cutie. He has endless amounts of energy and is constantly moving and exploring. I am barely keeping up with his messes and destruction and I imagine it will only get worse once he starts walking. Pray that doesn't happen soon. On the other hand his personality is growing every day and he is such a ham, comedian and drama queen. He entertains us to no end and absolutely makes life worth living.

I am glad January is coming to a close. It has to be one of the worst months of the year. February has a lot of great things in store for us and March and April will be even better! Sometimes I am glad time is passing so quickly but other times I beg it to stop and linger a little bit so I can enjoy morning snuggles with my baby, quiet nights alone with Steve and evenings playing monster chasing with both my boys. Life is good.
