why my child will never crawl

James hates tummy time and has since day one. We've been trying to do it a lot more, but we usually only last a few minutes because he gets so angry. And the anger usually lasts until well after he has managed to roll over or we pick him up. Our pediatrician said we should be doing a half hour a day, but we are lucky if he'll get 3 minutes in. This is how it usually goes:

Tummy time again? You've got to be kidding me

Ha! I rolled over all by myself! Now I get to be done, right?

Hey, you put me back! But I rolled over! I thought I was done
.

Yeah. This is not my favorite thing ever.

wait, maybe it's not too bad.

No, it's bad. I don't like this.

Yeah. I really don't like this at all.

Can we be done now? Please mom?

I really hate this.

I really hate this a lot.

I really hate tummy time and I'm kind of starting to hate you mom
for taking pictures of me while you subject me to this. Not cool.

Ok. Now I'm going to scream until my face turns red.
I am so mad at you mom.

I rolled over, but I am still really mad and I want you to know it.

I just really hate tummy time.

  1. Hhaha this is so cute Amie! And don't worry, our little boy is the exact same way! He HATES being on his tummy! But now that he rolls more, he doesn't hate it as much. AND......drum roll....he's a tummy sleeper now! (I never thought my kids would be.) But those pictures of your cute little guy seemed to be my boy exactly! But don't worry, he will get there and learn to crawl. My boy doesn't yet, and it might be some time still haha.

  2. SO funny! I love the commentary.
I think the tummy time really helps with muscle development. Look how well he holds his head up, and how high he props himself up with his arms. He's gaining coordination by rolling over too.

  3. I've heard that distracting them with TV works. Ha. So good for tiny brains. Also, you taking pictures made me think of this hilarious post:

  4. Oh my gosh. That seriously made my day! Cute boy! My kids all hated tummy time as well, especially my first! We got a mat for the second and that helped a ton! Gave him some things to look at and do while I tortured him on his stomach ;)
