Jewelry Holder

My sister in law Emily has been wanting something to display her jewelry for the last little while so when I drew her name for Christmas I knew exactly what I would do. I let her choose the fabric and a design she liked and then I  spent last week making it for her. I wanted something that could display both necklaces and earrings but I couldn't come up with one I liked so I did two separate pieces that can be hung side by side.

For the necklace holder I cover corkboard with fabric, stapling it into place on the back and inserted it into a frame. For the earring holder I found this lovely aluminum sheeting at Home Depot and cut it to fit into the frame. It is perfect for hanging earrings on.

I also had this box sitting in my closet and thought it would be much cuter covered in some pretty fabric to go with the necklace holder. So I got out my trusty modge podge and cut the fabric to size and then covered the box, using different fabrics for the outside and the inside. It is perfect for bracelets, watches and pins and was really easy to make.

Now I just need to make myself one with the extra aluminum sheeting I have on hand. I tend to wear my jewelry more often if I can see it rather than it being all stuffed into a box in my closet.
