One thing I learned on this trip is that going to the beach with a baby is not as much fun as it was without the baby. That being said, it was still fun and sometimes (though rarely) relaxing. It was neat to experience it through James' eyes and become reacquainted with it like it was our first time there too. We went to the beach every day the first week we were in California and we took James with us every day. At first I think the beach was a bit frightening for the poor little guy. He hated the water the first time we put his feet in it. And the sand was just intriguing, but not enough to be exciting. But I think he grew to really like it. If he was ever fussy I could take him down by the water and we would watch the waves come in over and over again. And the more we put his feet in the water and let the waves wash over his little toes, the more he liked it. Going to the beach was very different for me and for Steve from the last time we were there, but different doesn't necessarily equal bad and I think I will remember this year very fondly. Breastfeeding on the beach, however, is not fun at all.
