Every other year since I was a wee babe my family has stayed on Balboa Island in Newport Beach. It is a lovely tradition that was started by my Boyer great grandparents when their family was young. We go with all my aunts, uncles and cousins and then all my dad's aunts, uncles and cousins. The beach is inundated with Boyer relatives at 17th street for those first two weeks in August every year.
We love Newport Beach and Balboa Island, it almost feels like a second home because it's so familiar. This year we stayed in this charming house on Apolena Ave.
We spent almost every day at the beach and every night we would walk around the island, get frozen bananas, play games, watch the olympics and have lots of family togetherness time. It was awesome.
