Driving to Utah

We did the drive from DC to Utah in three days. We thought about taking our time and stopping to see things on the way but found we were both too eager to get home quickly.

The first day we drove about nine hours and stopped to see my cousins in Cincinnati. We happened to be there on the night of a Reds baseball game so we went there after dinner. I am not really a baseball fan but this game was so much fun. The stadium is awesome, situated right by the river in downtown Cincinnati. James loved being in such a fun stadium and loved spending time with his (well actually my) cousins--Rosie, Jesse and sweet Carol.

The best part of the night was when one of the mascots came up by where we were sitting. James couldn't take his eyes off of it. He kept moving around so he could see it and was absolutely entranced the whole time.

And that was pretty much the highlight of the whole road trip. The next day we drove through Illinois, Iowa and part of Nebraska, stopping only to get gas. And the next day we finished Nebraska, went through Wyoming and made it back to glorious Utah. James was such a trooper. I think there was only one time where he really freaked out and we had to stop and walk around for awhile before we could get him back into the car, although I think he does have a little bit of residual PTSD from the journey because he cries every time he sees his car seat. It is getting better though and we are hoping for a full recovery by the time we are ready to make the trip back to DC in August.

lots of pics of James from the trip just because he is cute
