end of fall...

I think fall here is officially over. But man oh man it was the longest, most incredible fall I've ever experienced. In Utah I feel like we are lucky if we get two good weeks of dazzling leaves and crisp autumn weather before it snows and winter enters in all her glory. But back east, the fall goes on and on. The leaves were bright and colorful for weeks and weather was perfect. We even had some strangely warm days at the beginning of this December week.  But I was driving home from downtown DC the other day across the memorial bridge and by the pentagon and most of the previously abundant leaves have fallen. The city is misty in the morning and you can tell that winter is almost here. We enjoyed our many wonderful weeks of autumn though. Fall back east can't be beat.

Steve put together a football game with friends from law school the weekend before Thanksgiving. James and I tagged along to watch.
Yes, that is the Lincoln Memorial in the top right picture. And oh, there is the Washington Monument behind those trees. No big deal.

yummy leaves.

We love spending time at the park on Sundays. We tried the slide thing out. Not so much. It was fun until we actually slid down. Guess we'll just stick to the swings. Or being thrown in the air.

we call him crab claws because his thumb won't go in the mitten thumb hole and it looks like he has pincers.
Grandma Linda is getting mad as she sees this pic. Too high!

Visiting dad at school. GW law school is different from BYU in that babies are not the norm. We had too much fun showing James off to Steve's classmates. Until this guy named Mohammed asked to hold him. I obliged thinking he was Steve's friend. Then as he walked away Steve asked me if I knew who he was. Woops. At least the perfect stranger gave James back to us.

More swinging . . .
he loves it

and that last pic is why James probably has diarrhea right now. i am officially a bad mom for taking this picture instead of making him stop eating the swing. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger though, right?
